The Geometrical Ball is an ode to the classical 32-panel soccer ball made from 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. This iconic ball design, recognized by young and old across the world as a soccer ball, is also known as a "truncated icosahedron", defined over 2000 years ago by the Greek polymath Archimedes. The picture presents mathematical expressions and definitions related to the truncated icosahedron, and displays the geometry in various orientations. It also celebrates Eigil Nielsen, the Danish national team goalkeeper and founder of the SELECT ball company, who first introduced the classical ball design to the world of soccer.
